                     Ian Joseph Somerhalder (Covington, Dec. 8, 1978) is a model, actor and film producer U.S.. Son of a message therapist and a building contractor, Somerhalder was born and raised in a small town south of Covington, Louisiana with his brother Robert and sister Robyn. He moved to New York with his family, he began his career as a model at age 10, appearing in ad campaigns for Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Versace and Guess, which is the testimonial for two consecutive years. At age 17, he decided to pursue acting. In the summer of 2000, landed the role of Hamilton Fleming in the spin-off of Dawson's Creek, Young Americans and in 2001 he made his debut on the big screen in the last dream. In 2002 plays Paul Denton, a young bisexual in the film adaptation of the novel by Bret Easton Ellis The Rules of Attraction, alongside James Van Der Beek, Shannyn Sossamon, and Jessica Biel.
